We are based at Stabekk in Bærum municipality, just west of Oslo’s city limits. There are short distances to Oslo, the sea and the countryside.
Oslofjord Folkehøgskole is just a short bus ride away from Oslo, which we use a lot in teaching and in leisure time.
In addition, the school is located right by the sea with access to a great beach area with a small jetty, bonfire, canoes, kayaks and other sea activities. There are great walking and jogging opportunities on paths and roads along the sea both in the direction of Oslo and Sandvika, and over to Fornebulandet.
Next to the school is the Bærum Baptist Church, and the school uses the church room on various occasions.
Access
It is possible to go to the center of Oslo from all the country’s folk high schools, but it is from Oslofjord Folkehøgskole that you take the shortest time!
Bus:
Bus 160 RYKKIN goes to and from Oslo every 15 minutes, and takes less than 15 minutes to get to the center of Oslo. Get off at the Strand stop, go back under the E-18 and down to the school in Michelets vei.
Trains and planes:
From Gardermoen, the flight train goes to Lysaker station, where you change to a local train to Stabekk station or bus 160 to Strand, approx. 45 min travel time in total. Some air trains also stop at Stabekk station. Local trains from Oslo to Asker do the same every half hour. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the school from there.
